Catábasis explora el descenso al inframundo como un viaje necesario hacia la transformación. Este motivo, presente en mitos de diversas culturas, implica perderse en la oscuridad para regresar renovado.
A través de la fotografía en blanco y negro, elimino referencias temporales y creo imágenes que parecen fuera del tiempo, reforzando la sensación de tránsito entre realidades. La figura humana y el paisaje se entrelazan en una dimensión simbólica, donde luz y sombra evocan el umbral entre lo visible y lo velado.
Más que ilustrar un mito específico, esta serie captura la esencia del descenso como experiencia universal. Catábasis no es solo una historia, sino una invitación a habitar el umbral, a ver en cada crisis una oportunidad de renacimiento. En este juego de luces y sombras, el espectador se convierte en viajero de su propia transformación.
Catabasis explores the descent into the underworld as a necessary journey toward transformation. This motif, present in myths from diverse cultures, involves losing oneself in darkness in order to return renewed.
Through black-and-white photography, I remove temporal references and create images that feel outside of time, reinforcing the sense of passage between realities. The human figure and the landscape intertwine within a symbolic dimension, where light and shadow evoke the threshold between the visible and the veiled.
Rather than illustrating a specific myth, this series captures the essence of descent as a universal experience. Catabasis is not just a story, but an invitation to inhabit the threshold, to see in every crisis an opportunity for rebirth. In this play of light and shadow, the viewer becomes a traveler in their own transformation.
