Enrique Ambrosio presents CAATINGA, a project whose title derives from a Tupi word meaning “White Forest.” It refers to one of Brazil’s six biomes and the only one exclusively Brazilian, covering an area larger than the Iberian Peninsula and located primarily in the country’s northeastern region. Shaped by an extreme climate and vegetation deeply adapted to drought, the Caatinga constitutes a singular territory where nature and history are profoundly intertwined. Its landscapes reflect the economic, cultural, and social processes that have defined the region, as well as the close relationship between the natural environment and its communities. Through this exhibition, Ambrosio highlights its environmental, cultural, and symbolic significance, inviting reflection on its preservation within Brazil’s ecological diversity.
